The Black Phone (2021) - 5/10
I heard this was good and Ethan Hawke being in it gave it some credibility, although, having said that, he is in Before Sunset, which is a load of my arse. Anyway, I was very disappointed. The acting was bad, the story wasn't great and the logic was nowhere to be seen. It was only after I watched it that I discovered that it was written by Stephen King's son that it started to make sense. The whole gifted kid with an I-hear-dead-people thing going on used to make sense back when King was doing enough coke to kill the entire paramilitary wing of a cartel but not so much any more. Nowadays it's just an overly used loophole that writer use when they're shite.
