Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) - 7/10
Every time I write a review for a Tom Cruise film, I marvel at how he's still doing all this sort of shit at his age. So I'm not going to do that this time. Instead, pull up a chair and let us marvel at how people keep letting him do all this mad shit. Can you imagine the insurance involved? How much would it cost to ensure a daredevil megastar like Tom Cruise to jump off a mountain or to stand up on a train moving at 80 mph?! Instead let's marvel at the wonder of health and safety practices, because, let's be honest, he isn't going to die, is he? And that's because there are whole teams of people responsible for making sure that doesn't happen. And that, in itself, is something to appreciate. I mean, imagine it did happen. Imagine he actually died. I'd be disappointed, sure, because I like his films, but you do have to admit, it would be just a little, tiny bit funny, wouldn't it?
