USA 94: Brazil's Return to Glory (2026) - 7/10
This documentary is all about Brazil and their successful 1994 World Cup campaign in which Romario and Bebeto fired them to glory. But, really, having lived through that World Cup, I know, deep down, the whole tournament wasn't really about Brazil. It wasn't even about Italy, who they beat in the final. It was about Roberto Baggio, the world's best player and existing Ballon d'Or holder at the time. He almost single-handedly dragged Italy to the final, and then, when it mattered most, he missed the decisive penalty that gifted Brazil the game. For me, the whole competition was foreplay for the final fucking, in which Baggio fucked himself and his country. It's a tragedy of epic proportions. Even now, with another World Cup taking place in USA, you can see a glimpse of Baggio in the stands watching a game and you can see he's still haunted by it. But yeah, Brazil did well too.
