The White Ribbon (2009) - 6/10
This film is in German, so it's subtitled, it's in black and white, and it's set just before the first World War, in a small town. However, there is something wrong with the town; some sort of vague wrongness that can't be expressed. The towns folk are disciplined and resiliant, yet things keep happening to test them. It's the type of film a film connoisseur would love, but I'm not so sure Joe Public would agree. The acting though, by everyone, is brilliant. Would I watch it again? Probably not.
