One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) - 6/10
Jack Nicholson won an Oscar for this for playing the most Jack Nicholson role ever. It's like a close friend of his wrote the movie just for him. He plays McMurphy, a rebellious troublemaker who decides that a psychiatric institution is preferable to prison. He turns the ward upside down, challenges authority, breaks rules and gives the other patients something to laugh about. It's funny watching it back now because here we are, 50 years later, and the lunatics are running the world now more than ever. It's got a sad ending too, which I think too many films nowadays refuse to do. Life doesn't have a happy ending so why should every film? It's an absolute classic but, I'll be honest, it did feel a little dated to me.
