12 Years A Slave (2013) - 8/10
Hard hitting this. And I'm not just talking about the whip on Platt's back. There's a paddle too. And some other stuff. Basically this is about black people being hit with shit, hard. It's a piece of history worth remembering but I can't help but feel this might inspire another generation of black people to despise whites, which isn't something we really need in the global battle against racism. Still, it's right to educate people about the history of slavery and this does a good job of that.
